The Maryland Lynching Memorial Project, in partnership with the University of Baltimore School of Law, is holding a public launch meeting for the Maryland Lynching Truth & Reconciliation Commission. The event is intended to introduce the Commission to the public, review the history of lynching in Maryland, explain why the Commission is needed and offer an opportunity for interested citizens to provide input an a range of practical and philosophical matters pertaining to the Commission’s work. .Ideally, the session will help inform a protocol for how the Commission will go about fulfilling its mandate.
We are honored to welcome Sherrilyn Ifill, President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, who will provide the keynote address for the meeting.
